This is what a manager once told me in my first week of a new job. He had brought me for coffee. He had been very friendly. But this phrase is what I remember most from the conversation.

You get a job because you impressed at interview, well done! Now the question becomes:

• How can you keep your brand shiny and perform when in post?
• How can you make the best choices to add value and show what you are capable of?
• How can you play the right cards at the right time?
• Let’s be clear. It’s ok to just be ok at your work!
